Is Country Audience ‘Red’-dy for Swift? Singer Rocks Hot Look at CMT Awards

Taylor Swift has been garnering attention of late for her increasingly bad-girl performances at awards shows–with behavior ranging from dissing ex-boyfriends to wearing revealing sexy outfits. One thing the multi-genre superstar been consistent with, however, is her relative keep-a-lid-on-it policy for specifically country music events.

That all changed Wednesday, when Swift stormed the CMT Awards stage to perform her new single “Red,” dressed in–what else?–a red outfit. But not just any red outfit. What appeared to be a floor-length gown quickly revealed itself to be a split skirt with saucy hot pants underneath, with a bustier-style bodice drawing eyes up top.

Swift’s fiery performance and equally steamy outfit easily stole the show as the night’s flashiest ensemble, with Swift even throwing in a few bonus flourishes such as falling to her knees in front of her guitar player.

By contrast, the night’s other superstar blonde, Carrie Underwood (who took home the primo prize for Video of the Year) appeared almost puritan in a tea-length ladylike blush gown. To be fair, Underwood was performing in tribute to her home state of Oklahoma, which recently weathered disastrous tornado damage, so it’s fully appropriate she didn’t attempt to compete with Swift on this level.

At any rate, both singers sported daring looks on the red carpet prior to the show–Swift rocking a beige hi-lo hem number, and Underwood commanding a pair of sultry mint-green shorts. If awards were given for fashion, it would be hard to choose the reigning miss in this arena.
