Nina L’Elixir Perfume: Review
Nina Ricci delivered an enchanting perfume to the market in late 2010: Nina L’Elixir. This perfume looks to strike a balance of traditional Nina elegance with a new freshness, and seems to hit the mark squarely. As a scent that is energizing the market in a number of ways, let’s look at the specifics of this new fragrance:
Feeling
Perhaps more important than anything is how a perfume makes you feel.
Developed by renowned perfumer Oliver Cresp, Nina L’Elixir is termed a “love potion” and it delivers on that in a number of ways. Your senses are first brought to life by a highly refreshing splash of citrus – almost too strong for some tastes…but not if you are looking to get the attention of another. After some time, the deeply intriguing apple and wooden scents grab your attention and would make anyone take notice. A certain unmistakable allure sets in from this love potion, giving you an unforgetable sensation. Finally, you are contented by a warm amber and woody base that is reminiscent of being near a “hearthy” fire.
Ingredients
Primary – Deep Red Apple
Top – Caipirinha Lime and Calabrian Lemon
Mid – Mixture of Forest Fruits and Jasmine
Base – Cedarwood, Warm Amber and Cotton Musk
Bottle Design
The appeal of a Nina Ricci Perfume is not in the scent alone but also in its beautiful bottle, and L’Elixir does not disappoint. This bottle continues the long tradition begun by bottle designer Marc Lalique where the apple shape was initially used on the 1952 launched fragrance Fille d’Eve. Since then it has graduated to new heights and the L’Elixir version is its latest accomplishment. Starting up and moving down, the glass is a deep apple red that flows gradually into a clear bottom – the gradient mirroring how the scent itself evolves as you experience it. At the top, a silver “stem” cap with a set of metallic leaves flow from it – stamped with the classic RICCI mark. This bottle is in itself something to behold.
Campaign
One cannot help but be drawn to the wonderful commercial that matches the freshness and charm of this fragrance. Singer Florrie Arnold, Nina Ricci’s new muse, does an original take on Blondie’s “Sunday Girl” in the spot. In it, she traipses through an imaginary world of floating apple wonder. Her dress is by Peter Copping of, what else, The House of Nina Ricci fashion. It also brings a special flare – envision pink, off-one-shoulder, flowery descending accent, with a white frilly/poofy base.
All told Nina L’Elixir is a wonderfully crafted perfume that has energized the fragrance market. Put it all together and this love potion will be desired by many and undoubtedly a scent that will long be looked on as a highlight of the Nina Ricci Perfume collection. I encourage you to get a lovely apple bottle for yourself!
