Deadly brain-eating amoeba resurfaces in Pakistani city

 

ISLAMABAD: A brain-eating amoeba has killed at least 10 people in Pakistan’s most populous city since May, a World Health Organization official said on Tuesday 9th October 2012.

A parasite Nigerella Fowleri, commonly known as Brain Eating Amoeba has spread in Pakistan specially in Karachi that reaches houses through the water line its habitat is warm sun soaked water.

This parasite gets into the body through nasal passages & causes Incurable Menningitis the person immediately dies within 3-4 days as it destroyes all the nervous tissues.

Please avoid using unboiled water (open swimming pools and open water for Wuzoo) at all costs.

Several deaths have been reported in Liaquat National Hospital & AKUH (Aga Khan University Hospital).
