The Verizon iPhone 4 is an interesting product for Engadget to review. Firstly, it’s not exactly a new device (not in any outwardly noticeable way). From design, down to its CPU, RAM, and even cost, this iPhone is the same as the AT&T model… save for that one small but really important thing: it’s got a CDMA radio inside. The device is also somewhat tricky to review based on its software, since we’ve all been using (and even took a deep look at) iOS 4.2 for quite some time. So for us the task is to make clear the differences between these two devices and their networks. Now that’s a little easier, because we’re sure you have the same questions as us. What are calls like? How are the data rates? Is service notably improved or different than AT&T’s?
The good: The Verizon iPhone 4 offers a hot-spot feature not available on AT&T’s device. Performance was better in most regards.
The bad: The Verizon iPhone 4 lacks world roaming and the ability to access voice and data simultaneously. The hot-spot feature didn’t work with all devices.
The bottom line: The Verizon iPhone 4 has much in common with its AT&T counterpart, but varying features and different performance give it enough room to stand apart. It won’t vastly change your iPhone experience, but we welcome the consumer choice that it brings.

The iPhone has been available only as a GSM phone. That is a nerwtok standard that most carriers around the world uses. As for companies like verizon or sprint, they use a different nerwtok standard, CDMA. ATT is the only company currently that has the rights to sell the iPhone, yet T-Mobile and ATT both use GSM in their nerwtoks, that’s why my friend uses her’s while on t-mobile. It might be unlikely that sprint will offer the iPhone even in 4G, because they use a WiMax standard. Why Sprints matters is because the bought the rights of Virgin mobile usa in late 2009. Now whether the iPhone is going to be available in different nerwtok standards is purely up to apple, but don’t expect a new iPhone anytime soon since apple always or at least seems to unveil a new phone around the beginning of summer.
just a heads up, if you want speed AT T is your best bet hands down. This video shows identical sdepes on both but when u steam high quality videos like Netflix or YouTube AT T loads faster with less buffer. I had both Verizon and AT T iPhone 4s at the same time. Just want you to think twice before buying a Verizon iPhone 4s.
